Wake And Make

I'm currently working on some examples for drawing prompts for a creative work challenge I'm going to run in February.

The gist of it is to do something creative for a minimum of (ideally) 15 uninterrupted minutes first thing when you wake up.

And thanks to clever friend I'm calling it....WAKE AND MAKE!

The concept behind it is how you spend the first few hours of your day has potential to impact the rest of your day in a pretty big way.

When we wake up and immediately start rushing around or checking emails or social media it makes our brain chemistry all wacky and it's harder to have an enjoyably productive day.

The recommendation I have seen elsewhere it to avoid the internet for three hours after waking up and do things like exercise, journal, or meditate.

This is a pretty unreasonable goal for most people on most days, including myself. However I have found that if I sit and do something creative for 15 to 30 minuets when I first wake up, the quality of my day is greatly improved.

When I spend the first 15 to 30 minutes of my day doing something creative I have found:

-Its easier to focus throughout the day
-I'm more creative overall
-I'm less interested in distracting stuff like social media
-I look forward to getting up

Plus after a week I usually have some decent work to show for it.

So come join my group to hang out with other creative people.

And sign up to receive email prompts.

P. S. You don't have to join the Facebook group, but I think it will be more fun if you do.
